Not as good as it was before... Too much plot, and not enough funny, which is quite unfortunate for a comedy comic...

Really? I always liked how well OoTS transitioned from purely humour to humour & heavy plot.  fascinated hevel

I tend to lose interest in comics that just stick to purely humour-based pages myself, and a lot of comics that try to make the switch tend to fail [I won't mention any particular comic where this is obvious, but there's a few that are rather notorious because of it.]

I agree with neo; I think plot should be high priority, and I'm fine with a few not-very-funny strips if it advances the plot. And I think OotS is doing well with that.

Regarding OOtS, I never really got into it.  If you're gonna even bother with stick figures over plain text, a major raison de etré is using them to give lots of expression, and the ones used in OOtS feel like clip art.

A stick figure comic that did it right was "MS Paint Adventures."  They're stick figures, but they're incredibly expressive and feel alive.

I'm mixed;  I like non-continum humor comics.  They're fun because to make it funnier, the authors can pull out all the stops and do anything.  They can actually turn the speakers to 11.  They can kill the entire cast if a joke demands it, but everyone's alive the next day.  This kind of humor stays fresh despite getting used over and over again, because those exaggerated funny situations can't be done in the real world.  I.E. the real world is never gonna be your anger outlet where you can murder someone for bad taste.
(Penny Arcade, Backward Compatible, Three Panel Soul)

On the other hand, I like long-running stories.
(Girl Genius and Buck Godot get a special mention here, for combining non-continuity breaking humor with it).

Don't get the wrong impression; I don't like -everything-, I just like anything that's done well.  plotting noah

Gag-A-Day comics often evolve into plot-based comics as their creators needs change.

The problem is, gag-a-day characters don't work very well as actual characters, and thus there is much suffering.

If only people would realize that you CAN do a plot-heavy comic as well as a humor comic. Nobody says you can't do both.

Mixing the too is tricky but it can be done. Girl Genius is a good example.

OotS is still enjoyable for me, as the characters were created with a plot already in mind. I've particularly enjoyed the most recent plot-line with the Alignment Change. It has been fun.

That being said, the other Giant in the Playground comic, Erfworld, is more to my taste. It was created as a narrative-heavy comic from the start, and is surprisingly complex.

I joined only so I could point out that it's "raison d'être".

Since I'm a member now I might as well add that it's my favourite comic :P

I do prefer the plot. I find that comedy can end up overdone and pushed together because of the need to have a punchline every strip. When you have a plot, you can advance the plot, use suspense and a cliffhanger, and so on, which means you don't have to regularly pull up funny. I also find that it allows you to feel various emotions rather than just "it's funny", which, well, is only one.

I like the story of oots, I like the art style (yes, you heard me, well, read me, right), and I think it was funny enough at the beginning to grab people's attentions (although not mine. The first time I read it I moved along. I oly came back after it had a plot and then I stuck around), and then, has a plot that makes you keep reading.

But I too like some "one gag a day" comics too, such as Calvin and Hobbes or Dilbert. I have to admit though, I always have a feeling of "if only they had a plot..."
Which made me pretty happy that Dilbert became a show, by the way. But I digress :P

I know it's your favorite avi. I figured you'd show up here eventually since you showed me this comic too. Also, I like the plot. I just want more of our favorite evil shoe less god of war.
